Cardamom and Orange Overnight Oats

Five minutes the night before gives you a fragrant breakfast of oats, yoghurt, cardamom and orange, topped with pistachios.

Cardamom and orange share a bright, citrusy note, which is why they work so well together. Mix this in jars before bed and breakfast is ready when you wake up.

Serves: 2 · Prep: 5 minutes, plus overnight chilling · Contains: oats (gluten), milk, nuts

Ingredients

  • 100g rolled oats
  • 200ml milk of your choice
  • 100g Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • Zest of 1 orange, plus 1 orange cut into segments
  • 2 tbsp roughly chopped pistachios

Method

  1. Mix the oats, milk, yoghurt, honey, cardamom and orange zest in a bowl.
  2. Divide between two jars, cover and chill overnight. They keep in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  3. In the morning, stir in a splash of milk if they are too thick, then top with the orange segments and pistachios.

Tip

Grind cardamom seeds from the pod yourself for the best flavour. Ready-ground cardamom loses its fragrance quickly.
